What is hyaluronic acid and why is it good for my skin?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of our skin that can bind large amounts of moisture. As we age, the body's own production of hyaluronic acid decreases, which can lead to dry skin and wrinkle formation. Hyaluron in serums helps to moisturize the skin and give it a plump, youthful appearance.

What is Vitamin A and why is it good for my skin?

Vitamin A is a real powerhouse vitamin for the skin! There are various forms of vitamin A in cosmetics, with retinol being the most well-known. Vitamin A, and particularly retinol, can truly benefit your skin:

Anti-aging effect: It stimulates cell renewal and helps reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture.

For blemish-prone skin: Retinol can help unclog pores and regulate sebum production, which counteracts blemishes.

Pigmentation spots: Vitamin A can help lighten pigmentation spots and even out skin tone.

What is Vitamin C and why is it good for my skin?

Vitamin C is a true all-rounder in skincare. It is a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin from harmful environmental influences. In addition, it offers further benefits:

Radiant Complexion: Vitamin C can visually reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, thus promoting an even skin tone.

Anti-Aging: It supports the skin's natural collagen production, which makes the skin appear visibly firmer and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

Protection against Free Radicals: Vitamin C neutralizes free radicals, which are caused by UV radiation, pollution, and other factors and contribute to premature skin aging.

How can Klotz Labs serums be combined?

In principle, all serums can be integrated into your skincare routine. However, make sure to use Vitamin C in the morning and Vitamin A in the evening. The other products can be used both in the morning and in the evening.

What are the benefits of combining Klotz Labs products?

Synergistic effects: The active ingredients complement each other in their nourishing effect.

Comprehensive skin care: The combination covers various skin needs – from anti-aging to intensive moisturization and protection against environmental influences.

Optimal results: They help your skin achieve a well-groomed, vital appearance and can thus achieve optimal care results.

What should I consider?

Introduction: Start slowly with the application of vitamin A, using it only every two to three evenings at first. Gradually increase the frequency as your skin tolerates it well.

Sun Protection: Vitamin C and vitamin A can increase the skin's sensitivity to light. Therefore, ideally use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher during the day.

Irritation: For sensitive skin, vitamin A and vitamin C can lead to temporary redness or dryness. Monitor your skin's condition and reduce the frequency of application if necessary.

Do not apply simultaneously: Do not apply vitamin C and vitamin A immediately one after the other, as this can lead to irritation.

How can I build my skincare routine?

Morning Routine:

1. Cleansing: Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser.

2. Vitamin C Serum: Apply a few drops of vitamin C serum to your face and neck.

3. Hyaluronic Serum: Then apply a hyaluronic serum to intensely moisturize the skin.

4. Day Care: Use a moisturizing day cream and finally an SPF.

Evening Routine:

1. Cleansing: Remove makeup and thoroughly cleanse your face.

2. Vitamin A Serum: Apply a few drops of retinol serum to your face and neck.

3. Hyaluronic Serum: (Optional) Then apply a hyaluronic serum to further hydrate the skin.

4. Night Care: Finally, use a rich night cream.

What role does vitamin D play in skin care?

Vitamin D is a fascinating ingredient in modern cosmetics that supports the natural skin barrier. In our formulations, we rely on precursors or skin-identical substances that nourish the appearance of the skin and give it a vital look.

A well-maintained skin barrier is essential for retaining moisture and withstanding external environmental influences. Vitamin D analogues in skincare can help to visibly smooth the skin's texture and support its natural resilience. Please note that cosmetic products are not a substitute for the body's own vitamin D production through sunlight or a balanced diet, but rather serve purely for external care.

How does caffeine work in cosmetic products?

Caffeine is a proven ingredient, particularly valued in eye care and invigorating facial serums. It has refreshing properties and can help the skin appear more awake and vital.

In our formulations, we use caffeine to visually revitalize tired-looking skin areas. It supports a well-groomed radiance and is frequently used to cosmetically reduce the appearance of puffiness, especially around the eye area. Thanks to its antioxidant properties, caffeine also helps protect the skin from oxidative stress and thus supports a fresh, youthful appearance.

What is the difference between retinol and retinal?

Both Retinol and Retinal belong to the retinoid family (vitamin A derivatives) and are highly valued ingredients for a refined complexion. The main difference lies in their conversion stage within the skin.

Retinol must first be converted into Retinal in the skin, and then into active Retinoic Acid. Retinal, on the other hand, is already one step further and only requires one more conversion step. This often allows Retinal to act faster and more directly, while Retinol offers a gentler, gradual release. Both active ingredients support natural skin renewal, promote a smoother appearance, and help visibly reduce fine lines. The choice depends on individual skincare needs and skin acclimatization.

What is the difference between a serum and a cream?

In daily skincare, a serum and a cream fulfill different but ideally complementary tasks. The essential difference lies in their texture and the concentration of their ingredients.

A serum is characterized by a light, often watery or gel-like consistency. It contains active ingredients in high concentrations which, due to the light texture, can be optimally absorbed by the skin. A cream, on the other hand, is richer and contains a higher proportion of nourishing lipids (fats). Its primary purpose is to protect the skin's surface, lock in moisture, and support the skin barrier. For optimal skincare results, we recommend applying the serum first, followed by the cream.

How often should I use the skincare products?

For optimal and well-groomed skin, we recommend regular, daily use of our products. Most serums and creams are designed for twice-daily use – morning and evening.

A continuous skincare routine helps the skin retain moisture and make the best possible use of the active ingredients supplied. For special ingredients such as higher-dose vitamin A (retinol/retinal) or fruit acids, it is advisable to gradually increase the application. For example, start with two to three applications per week in the evening and adjust the frequency to your skin's individual needs. Always pay attention to the specific application instructions on the respective product packaging.

Which products are suitable for morning, and which for evening?

Dividing your skincare into a morning and evening routine helps to provide optimal care for your skin. In the morning, protection from external influences is paramount.

  • Morning: Moisturizing serums with hyaluronic acid, antioxidant ingredients like vitamin C, and finally a product with UV protection are ideal for starting the day fresh.
  • Evening: Night is the time for natural skin regeneration. Here, richer creams and active ingredients that visibly support cell renewal, such as vitamin A (retinoids) or peptides, are recommended.

Hyaluronic acid serums can be used both in the morning and in the evening to continuously provide the skin with valuable moisture.

How to properly apply multiple serums (layering)?

The so-called layering, i.e., applying multiple serums in layers, enables very targeted skin care. To make optimal use of the active ingredients, the basic rule is: from light to rich.

After cleansing, start with the serum that has the most watery consistency. Let it absorb briefly before applying the next, slightly richer or gel-like serum. A proven approach is to apply hydrating serums (like hyaluronic acid) first, and then use formulations with more lipids. Always finish your routine with a cream to seal the applied active ingredients into the skin. Make sure to give the skin a short moment to absorb between steps.

Is additional UV protection necessary when using serums?

Adequate UV protection is an essential component of any high-quality skincare routine, regardless of the serums used. UV radiation is one of the main factors contributing to premature, light-induced skin aging.

Especially if you integrate products with exfoliating properties or vitamin A derivatives (retinol) into your routine, daily sun protection in the morning is indispensable. These active ingredients can temporarily increase the skin's photosensitivity. We recommend always applying a product with a sufficient sun protection factor (SPF) after your morning serums and day cream. This way, you preserve your skin's well-cared-for appearance and protect it from external, environmental stressors.

How do I apply eye care products correctly?

The skin around the eyes is particularly thin, delicate, and requires gentle care. To avoid unnecessary stress on this sensitive area, eye care should be applied very gently.

Dispense a small amount of the product—about the size of a grain of rice—onto your ring finger. The ring finger naturally exerts the least pressure. Gently pat the serum or cream along the orbital bone (the bony eye socket). Start at the inner corner of the eye and work your way outwards with light, dabbing motions. Avoid vigorous rubbing or pulling to protect the elasticity of the delicate skin.

Are KLOTZ LABS products suitable for sensitive skin?

Our pharmacy-compatible cosmeceuticals are developed in Germany with the highest standards of quality and tolerability. We deliberately refrain from using unnecessary additives to keep the risk of irritation as low as possible.

Many of our formulations are specifically designed to support the natural skin barrier and are therefore also suitable for sensitive skin types. However, since every skin reacts individually, we recommend testing a new product on a small, inconspicuous area (e.g., in the crook of the arm) if you have known hypersensitivity. If you are unsure, please take a look at the full INCI list on the respective product page or consult your pharmacy.

Can I use the cosmetics during pregnancy and while breastfeeding?

Most of our cosmetic products can be used safely during pregnancy and breastfeeding to moisturize and nourish the skin during this special period.

An exception are products containing Vitamin A (retinol, retinal, or other retinoids). For purely precautionary reasons, it is generally recommended to avoid high-dose Vitamin A cosmetics during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Instead, opt for intensely moisturizing alternatives such as hyaluronic acid or strengthening peptides during this time. For specific questions or uncertainties, we advise you to consult your doctor before use.

Are KLOTZ LABS products vegan and cruelty-free?

Respectful treatment of nature and animals is a matter of course for us. In accordance with the strict EU Cosmetics Regulation, animal testing for cosmetic products and their ingredients is completely prohibited in the European Union. As a German company, we strictly adhere to these legal requirements.

Furthermore, we place great importance on the fact that a large part of our product range is formulated vegan. Wherever possible, we avoid ingredients of animal origin and instead rely on high-quality, plant-based or synthetically produced active ingredients of the highest purity. You can find out whether a specific product is completely vegan from the detailed product descriptions in our shop.

Do the products contain fragrances or known allergens?

When developing our pharmacy-compatible cosmetics, skin tolerability is our top priority. For this reason, we formulate our products as minimalistic as possible and largely refrain from using synthetic perfumes and declarable fragrance allergens.

The absence of unnecessary fragrances minimizes the risk of skin irritations and makes our serums and creams particularly attractive for people with sensitive skin. Any subtle inherent scent of the products is solely due to the high-quality raw materials used and usually dissipates shortly after application. The exact composition of each product can be found transparently listed in the respective INCI declaration.

How long are the products good for after opening?

The shelf life of our cosmetic products after first opening is indicated by the jar symbol (PAO – Period After Opening) on the packaging or label. This symbol contains a number followed by an "M" (e.g., 6M or 12M), which stands for the number of months.

Generally, our serums and creams are stable for 6 to 12 months after opening. To preserve the high quality and effectiveness of the ingredients over this period, hygienic removal is important. Ideally, use a clean spatula for jars and carefully close dispensers and bottles after each use.

How should I store my KLOTZ LABS skincare products?

Proper storage significantly contributes to maintaining the texture and valuable ingredients of your cosmetic products. We recommend storing products in a cool, dry place.

Avoid direct sunlight and strong temperature fluctuations, such as those that can occur directly next to a heater or on a windowsill. A normally tempered bathroom or a closed cabinet are ideal storage locations. Some special formulations, such as pure Vitamin C serums, may benefit from refrigeration to slow down oxidation. However, always pay attention to the specific instructions on the product packaging.

What does "Made in Germany" mean for product quality?

The "Made in Germany" seal is recognized worldwide for outstanding quality, precision, and reliability. For KLOTZ LABS, this means that the entire value chain – from initial research and development to production and bottling – takes place in Germany.

This enables us to carry out the strictest quality controls and ensure compliance with the highest production standards (GMP – Good Manufacturing Practice). As a pharmacy-compatible brand, we are also subject to the strict guidelines of the EU Cosmetics Regulation. Through local production, we not only ensure consistently high quality for our active ingredient cosmetics but also support short transport routes and a transparent supply chain.

How long does it take for my order to ship?

We know you're excited about your new skincare, so we're processing your order as quickly as possible. Once your payment has been received, your package will be immediately prepared for dispatch at our shipping center.

Within Germany, the standard delivery time is usually 2 to 4 business days. For deliveries to other European countries, shipping may take a few days longer depending on the destination. As soon as your package has been handed over to our shipping service provider, you will receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking number. This allows you to easily check the status of your delivery online at any time.

Can I return ordered products?

Your satisfaction with our active ingredient cosmetics is very important to us. Of course, you have the right to cancel your order within the scope of the legal right of withdrawal within 14 days of receipt of the goods and return it to us.

Please note that for hygiene reasons and in accordance with legal regulations, we can only accept unopened and unused products in their original packaging. Once the return has been received and checked by us, we will refund the purchase amount to you using the payment method originally chosen. All detailed information on the return process can be found in our cancellation policy in the shop.

Do you offer product samples for testing?

We understand that it is particularly important to get to know textures and tolerability in advance, especially with sensitive skin. However, for logistical and sustainable reasons, we currently do not offer separate shipping of individual product samples upon request.

Instead, we include small surprise samples with many of our regular orders so that you can discover other products from our range. We also work closely with selected pharmacies. There you often have the opportunity to receive on-site advice and test our textures on your skin. We recommend that you contact one of our partner pharmacies if you are interested.

How is KLOTZ LABS committed to sustainability and packaging?

Sustainability is an ongoing process that we at KLOTZ LABS are deeply committed to. Our approach begins with the selection of raw materials and extends throughout the entire production process in Germany, enabling short and environmentally friendly transport routes.

For our packaging, we rely on high-quality glass bottles and recyclable materials to reduce the use of plastic to an absolute minimum. Glass optimally protects our sensitive active ingredients and can be perfectly returned to the recycling loop. We are constantly working to further optimize our packaging solutions and to design outer packaging as resource-efficiently as possible, without compromising product safety.
